VAT Returns in the United Kingdom
VAT in the United Kingdom
Companies with turnover exceeding £85,000 (the VAT registration threshold) must register for VAT in the United Kingdom. Businesses from outside the UK, including those from Poland, must register for VAT when they make their first sale of goods or services in the UK. This includes sellers on platforms such as Amazon or eBay. Once your company is registered for UK VAT, you are required to calculate and pay VAT to HMRC.
VAT returns in the UK are usually submitted every three months. However, the reporting periods do not align with calendar quarters. Businesses based outside the UK selling to UK customers can also account for VAT through the OSS e-commerce system. If you’re unsure whether your business needs to register, declare or pay VAT in the UK, Sepera Accounting is here to help.
